What Is A DDoS Attack?
A DDoS attack is one of the bigger security threats that a server may experience. It is an invasion on a server that has the ability to leave all of it’s hosted websites immobilized.
Denial of service (DoS) is an attack where the assailant imposes a protocol or other form of entry to assault a server with requests. The server eventually crashes or becomes inaccessible to anyone but the assailant.
A DDoS is a distributed denial of service attack that entails a coordinated effort of more than one machine carrying out the DoS. Simply put, multiple machines in various locations make the attack to overwhelm the server. Being that the attack is coming from more than one source, a DDoS makes it much more difficult to stop the attack.
There have been many top websites from large companies and organizations that have experienced a DDoS attack. The reason for this is because it is not always possible to prevent one of these attacks 100% of the time.
