Top 10 Relationship Books for 2019 and beyond
Amazon User Review : By Catherine Williams
Absolutely every person should read this book. When I complained about something my husband did that annoyed me, he would say, “why don’t you ever tell me about the things I do right?” Super evidence that he is a “Words of Affirmation” person. I am an “Acts of Service” person. So if he does something around the house or yard, I tell him what a good job he did, how great it turned out, and I thank him. These are not big deal things. If he drives I thank him for driving, If he empties the trash, I thank him. Stuff most people take for granted, the “Words of Affirmation” person needs to HEAR them. This guy thrives on compliments. I on the other hand, thrive on things like someone doing the dishes, or cleaning the floor. Don’t buy me roses. To me, it’s a waste of money! You have to read this book to find out which of the five languages you speak, and which your loved ones speak.

Great read! My husband bought this, and at first I was offended. I didn’t think anything was wrong with us and I took it as kind of a personal attack. However, we started reading it together and it has just strengthened our marriage. It has reminded me to not take things for granted. It has helped me re-focus and better understand my partner. And it has helped me realize that we are two different people at the core, so what works for me isnt what best works for him and vise versa. Would recommend to anybody in a relationship that wants it to be long lasting!

Picking up tis play to read I knew absolutley nothing about it other than having heard it’s name. I have to say I am glad I took a chance on the unknown because this play was truly a pleasure to read. Once I got used to the English used in it reading it became almost melodic in my head. There is no doubt Shakespeare knew how to make words dance. This play almost feels like it should be two separate plays since they are so very different in feel. The first half a tragedy and the sequel a romance. I feel like Shakespeare wrote this play as sort of an homage to the Greek classics. if that was his intent, then I have to say he succeeded very well indeed. I loved that even with all the flowery language (multiple times requiring me to look up words) he quickly managed to start the film projector in my head I was seeing the action happening in my head. Truly a classic and I am so thrilled that my first foray into Shakespeare unknown to me was such a resounding success!!

This book is a MUST read for anyone, but particularly if you are in management or sales. This book changed my life in the way that I interact with people. I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE because it teaches everyone valuable lessons about human interaction. This book covers a wide range of topics such as how to motivate people, how to win them to your way of thinking, but also covers small and often overlooked things such as the importance of remembering someone’s name (and tips for how to do so). Get a hard copy and read it several times, then pass it on to someone you know who could use help with becoming a better “people person”.

Excellent book on vulnerability and shame for personal growth and for teachers working with at-risk students. The end of the book focuses on strategies for parents raising emotionally healthy children. The goal is to become more emotionally vulnerable in safe and appropriate ways instead of holding everything inside. One new thing learned in this book: In the chapter called “The Vulnerability Armory,” Dr. Brene Brown discusses two forms of oversharing personal information with others. All teachers have addressed “TMI” with certain students. This book explains how to help people recognize their motivations and set proper boundaries. Highly recommend this book.

My husband and I were actually referred this book by a counselor on a free consultation session with a couples counselor. I got this book on tape first and listened to it on my way into and home from work. My husband has a MUCH shorter commute and didn’t have time to listen to it like I did. So we bought it and try to do an activity or so a week together. It is a great guideline to help work through communication and resentment issues from various issues within a relationship. I have recommended this to many of our friends.

This book is a great starting point if you want to be a better employee, leader, friend, and romantic partner. You may be amazed how low your score is in the beginning, but the online program that comes with it offers great support on your journey to be a better person. It’s not going to be the sole thing that gets you there. You’ll still need to find other resources if you want to keep growing. But this book makes it easier to set a baseline so you’ll be able to measure your growth.

Based on the dichotomy of positive and negative reviews, it’s clear that “Milk and Honey” isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I enjoyed it, but then I could relate to many of the stories of love, heartache, grief, pain, and healing conveyed throughout this collection. I fully understand that others may not find any such connection with Kaur’s writing, particularly if they haven’t experienced the human condition through a lens similar to Kaur’s. In a medium like poetry, the essence of the author’s personal expression is as an individual sharing something that is both honest and personal — not everyone is going to appreciate it and that’s okay.

I still have about 200 pages to go but this book has already helped me tremendously. It’s a rather simple idea that only one’s thoughts can affect one’s mood, but once you dig deeper and really understand what this concept means, it can have a large and significant impact on your life. People who suffer from anxiety and depression have a common them amongst their thoughts, being distortion. Burns explains that in order to master the art of feeling good, you must recognize your distorted and unrealistic thoughts as soon as you have them. By calling immediate attention to the absurdity of these negative thoughts, you learn to “fight back” and prevent yourself from believing these thoughts, rendering them useless. Nothing in life is a simple fix, but if you can commit, this book can help you head down the right path to alleviate anxiety and to ultimately lead a happier life.

10. The Love Dare
Amazon User Review : By Richard A Talley
This is an excellent book. We suggest you watch the movie as well. We purchased for our daughter and son-in-law who were recently married. Best they understand the commitment of love before there are problems than trying to pick up the pieces after any problems. God’s love is about giving to the one you love on good days, not so good days, etc. A giving committed love will come back to bless you as a couple and keep your love alive. You need to love 100 – 100, not 50 -50, the first 100 starts with YOU.
