John Adams Morgan was born on September 17, 1930. He is a sailor of American origin, Olympic champion, and also the founder of philanthropic organization Morgan Foundation. His father’s name is Henry Sturgis Morgan who co-founded Morgan Stanley and his grandfather J P Morgan founded J P Morgan & Co.
John Adam was born at Oyster Bay to Henry Morgan and Catherine Frances Lovering Adams. His mother was the daughter of Charles Francis Adams III who worked as the US secretary of the Navy under Hoover. His mother is also a direct heritage of two US presidents – John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
He completed his graduation in the year 1949 from Groton School. Later he went to Yale University where he completed his bachelor in arts in the year 1953.
He attended the 1952 summer Olympics which was being held at Helsinki. He was a proud winner of gold with 6 meter class with the boat llanoria.
He was working as a partner in Dominick & Dominick for 10 long years – 1956 to 1966. Later he extended his services as a senior vice president under the corporate finance department at Smith Barney. In 1987, this firm assisted in the acquisition of Allegheny Beverage Corporation in lieu of $450 million in the form of cash and securities.
In 2001, the firm had a broker license deal with the newbie MLGA holdings. Morgan with Fred Joseph who was the former president and CEO of investment bank Drexel Burnham Lambert in the year 1980s. Morgan later also worked as the Chairman of board o directors at Morgan Lewis.
In the year December 2010, Morgan Joseph merged with Tri Artistian partners LLC to give birth to Morgan Joseph TriArtistian group inc. In the year 2011 April, Apollo global management invested their money into Morgan Joseph TriArtistian Inc and also led to a brokerage firm where buyout and hedging of funds could be done.
From the year 1996, Morgan worked as the director of Upham & Co. Inc. From 1989 to Jan, 1998 he served as the director of Trimas Corporation and later on this firm was acquired by Metaldyne corporation. He later also served as the director of this new firm from 1984 until 2000 after which the company was recapitalized. In 2001, he served as the director of furnishings international inc and also worked as the trustee of Provident loan society of New York. He also worked as the director of Pierpoint Morgan library.
As far as Morgan’s personal life is concerned, he has been blessed with marriage five times. Elizabeth Robbins Choate was his first wife with whom he stayed married from 1933-1998. His first wife was the daughter of Robert Burnett Choate and sister of Robert B Choate Jr. they filed for divorce in the year 1957. And before divorce, they gave birth to John Adams Morgan Jr.
His second wife was Tania Goss in the year 1962. She was a proud alumni of Ethel walker school as well as vassar college. His second wife was the daughter of Natalie Holbrook and Chauncey Porter Goss who stayed at Middlebury. Before their divorce, they gave birth to Chauncey Goss Morgan who later on became the chief financial officer of Senet Inc.
In the year 1992, he got married for the third time to Anne Chute. During late 90s he met his fourth wife Sonja Tremont. She was one of the television stars of The Real Housewives of New York City. It is said that they met at an Italian restaurant in New York city where she was a hostess and met again after some time in Aspen after which he proposed to her. And they got married within some months. They gave birth to a beautiful daughter Quincy Adams Morgan. His fifth wife was Connie H Morgan with whom he got married in 2010.
Morgan is said to be the owner of Cartias island which is a huge 3.5 acre private island which is situated at Connecticut. This huge villa has 26 rooms with 14,000 square foot home which was originally built in 1906. In 2011, Morgan later hosted the house for sale at $18.9 million.
